Long Island, NY vs. Hernando County Living
I grew up in Astoria, Queens, NY and moved to Medford, Long Island after I got married over thirty five years ago. My husband and I lived in Medford for 20+ years in a ranch style 3 bedroom/1 bath home (approximately 1200 sq. feet) with inground pool. We have been here about five years and I do go up and visit frequently and surprisingly never had the feeling that I wanted to go back, but still considered it "home". However, this Thanksgiving I asked my husband if we could pack our baby up (our poodle) and drive up to my best friend and my brother from MA would also meet us there. We did and it was one of my best holidays, but coming home to Florida this time felt like "coming home". The visit could not have been better, but I love living in Hernando County. I became a realtor and Julie Ludovico and myself became partners and we love what we do! Just ask our customers.
As my husband and I went around the "old neighborhood" in Long Island and passed our house, it can't compare to the sunny Weeki Wachee/Spring Hill area. We mostly have sun, they mostly have clouds. It is not as bright and cheery and the people are not as cheery either. There is no comparison as far as the size of house you can get for the money here. My 1200 square foot 3/1 ranch is more money than a 2500 square foot home in the Weeki Wachee or Spring Hill area. The people are definetely more stressed and not as laid back as here.
